House Portraits and Commissions

One of the fascinating things about painting a house portrait is that each house has a story. Some were commissioned as a going away present for a family that was selling their home. One was commissioned by a granddaughter of a woman who had lived in the same house her whole life. Some people just wanted to enjoy their home by seeing it as a painting. I always enjoy painting house portraits. It allows me to study the character of each home and how the light plays on that particular type of architecture and think about the stories that home might hold.
